Letter from the President
Thank you for your support of the Hippodrome Colony Historical Theatre Association (HCHTA) and its goal of rehabilitating the Colony and returning it to its rightful place as the cultural centerpiece of Marietta.
The vision of the HCHTA includes providing a state of the art performing arts center that will serve the widest variety of residents of the region. Envisioned are such events as touring Broadway shows, films, music of every genre, dance, children's art programming and educational programs for children and adults. The Colony will be a grand public auditorium that will be used by many groups for meetings, lectures and even church services.
We believe the reopening of this theatre will not only enhance the quality of life, but will also have a major economic impact on the region, particularly downtown Marietta. The key to a viable downtown is the ability to provide activities that will not only bring local people downtown, but also enhance the tourist trade by providing another attraction.
We hope that you will share our vision and lend your support with your ideas, suggestions and volunteer help when needed. As with any project of this magnitude, the financial support of the community is mandatory. If the community financially supports this project, HCHTA will be able to leverage that support with federal, state and foundation funds.
Please consider helping us to fulfill our vision for the Colony.
