ColonyFest and Brick Street BBQ
By R. Hunt Brawley, HCHTA Director
Special thanks to all of those who helped make our Seventh Annual ColonyFest and first ever Brick Street BBQ and Marietta ReStore Antique Market possible. This was our largest event ever and the volunteers alone numbered over 75. We estimate over 4000 people attended the two day event to observe the barbecue contestants, partake of barbecue from our vendors, and enjoy the best in local and regional entertainment.
If you were wondering about the BBQ contest results, here they are!

We were very pleased to have four local contestants two of whom were first timers as contestants. They have been bitten by the bug and have already signed up for another contest or two this year.
A big thank you to the judges who volunteered with some coming many miles at their own expense. Our thanks also to the Steve and Scott Grinstead our KCBS representatives who guided us through the rather complicated procedures that make a contest a "sanctioned contest".
We believe Kansas City Barbecue Society sanctioned Brick Street BBQ contest can grow to become one of Mariettas signature events and we look forward to putting on a bigger and better event next year.
(Note: A new website dedicated to Brick Street BBQ will soon be available with news, photos and more!)
