Hippodrome Posters Discovered
Thanks to the historical records research of Charlie Fogle, we have uncovered many classic Hippodrome movie posters of silent films from the mid 1920s. Admission price ranged from ten to forty cents and many short films and extras were added to the feature presentations.
Gloria Swanson starred in the Paramount Production, The Untamed Lady. The caption reads, Beautiful, tempestuous, alluring, wealthy, spoiled. See how weakness conquers her where strength fails. Or how about Clara Bow starring in Mantrap. As the manicure-girl bride of a Canadian Northwoods man an alluring little fl irt who smiles and sparkles all too dangerously. Drama! Thrills! Comedy!
Other posters include The Reckless Lady, The Blind Goddess, The Palm Beach Girl and many others. Are you starting to see a trend in the 1920s culture? The promotional posters themselves are a window back in time. H.C.H.T.A. is printing some of these posters to full size and will be displaying them in the lobby.
