Movie Screening Draws Huge Crowd
By Andrew Jones
On November 12th, 2005, the Colony Theatre played host to a special preview screening of Salvage, a horror film shot entirely on location in Marietta.
The Colonys first theatrical screening since 1985, the film drew a crowd of over 400 and brought in donations totaling over $1,000. This made the screening the Colonys single biggest event to date. Even more gratifying was the fact that so many people came out to support the theatre despite the lack of heating or functioning restroom facilities.
When the lights came up, the filmmakers, some of whom had come from New York, conducted a short Q&A session with the audience.
When asked about his thoughts on the screening, Chris Ferry, who produced and acted in the movie, had this to say: I felt the screening in Marietta was a huge success. I was very pleased with the way the film looked at that size, and we were thrilled with the audience's reaction.
He added, I'd very much like to shoot another film in the area. As for another screening, we'll have to see what comes about with the rights to the film. If we sell it and the distributor has no objections, we'd be happy to screen it again in Marietta. The Colony was a treat!
And in a related development, Salvage has just been accepted into the 2006 Sundance Film Festival! Chris Ferry, along with writer-directors Jeff and Josh Crook and actress Lauren Lewis will be traveling to the festival in Park City, Utah in hopes of selling their film to a distributor.
